Imagine a world much like our own, set in the distant future—a world ravaged by endless wars fought over territory, power, and dwindling resources. Governments deceive their people, operating in secrecy while pursuing hidden agendas. What no one realizes is that behind every major corporation, government, and weapons program stands a single unseen hand.

His name is Carlith.

An ancient demon and apprentice to Lucifer himself, Carlith was the only demon to evade banishment to Hell. Through cunning and deception, he concealed himself among humanity, escaping the wrath of God. Across countless centuries, he assumed many identities, quietly manipulating civilizations from the shadows. Nearly every great war, every act of chaos, and every empire brought to ruin was orchestrated through his wicked schemes.

For generations, an ancient order known as the Templar, founded by the Elves, hunted Carlith relentlessly. Their pursuit spanned centuries, always one step behind the elusive demon.

At last, Carlith revealed himself in a catastrophic fit of rage.

A battle unlike any before erupted, shaking the very foundations of the world. After an epic struggle, the Templar finally defeated their ancient enemy, bringing an end to the demon’s reign of terror—or so they believed.

Carlith, returning to his human form, smiled at the warriors who stood victorious before him.

“In death, I will unleash a power greater than this world has ever known.”

With those final words, his body fell lifeless to the ground.

What the Templar did not know was that Carlith had prepared for this very moment. His defeat had never been the end of his plan—it was merely the beginning.

The instant Carlith’s heart stopped beating, a hidden chain of destruction was set into motion. Every weapon of mass destruction on Earth had been secretly linked to his life force. His death was the trigger.

Within moments, nuclear arsenals, biological weapons, chemical stockpiles, and experimental superweapons were unleashed across the globe. Cities vanished in blinding flashes of light. Nations crumbled. Oceans boiled, the skies burned, and civilization was erased in the blink of an eye.

The world, as humanity had known it, was gone.

Thousands of years passed, and from the ashes of the old world, humanity slowly began to rebuild.

Not everyone had been affected equally by the radiation, toxins, and unimaginable devastation left behind by the Cataclysm. Some emerged seemingly untouched, while others were forever transformed. Over countless generations, these changes became permanent. Entirely new races were born, each named after the mythical beings they came to resemble. Elves, Dwarves, Orcs, and others walked the world once more. Many more, however, were twisted into savage creatures and monsters that haunted the wilderness.

Yet the Cataclysm brought more than mutation.

It brought Magic.

No one knew where it had come from. Some believed magic had always existed, lying dormant beneath the world until the Cataclysm awakened it. Others claimed it arrived with the mysterious falling stars that continued to crash into the world long after civilization had fallen, bringing with them strange energies unlike anything ever witnessed before.

As centuries passed, kingdoms rose from the ruins, and great academies devoted to the study of magic were founded across the lands. Knowledge flourished. Civilization prospered. For a time, the world knew peace once again.

But peace has always been fragile.

As scholars pushed the boundaries of magical research, fierce debates erupted over the true nature of magic and how it should be used. Philosophical disagreements soon became bitter rivalries. Rivalries became hatred. Before long, powerful Archmages were battling one another in the streets, their duels leveling entire cities and reducing once-great kingdoms to rubble.

Watching history repeat itself, the Templar recognized the same destructive path that had once led to Carlith’s final act. They desperately tried to end the growing conflicts, but they had waited too long.

Many of the most powerful mages had already pledged themselves to rival kingdoms, each believing their vision of magic alone would shape the future.

Thus began the greatest conflict since the Cataclysm…

The Mage Wars.

The Mage Wars raged for five long years.

What began as scattered conflicts between rival schools of magic soon grew into a war that engulfed the entire world. Smaller factions were either conquered or willingly united beneath stronger banners until only two great powers remained.

From the darkness emerged Ar’ned, the most powerful necromancer the world had ever known.

Leading an endless army of the dead, Ar’ned drove relentlessly across the lands. The United Kingdoms fought bravely to slow his advance, but every battlefield only strengthened his forces. Each fallen soldier became another undead warrior, rising once more to fight for the Necromancer King.

Realizing the world stood on the brink of extinction, the Templar called upon the greatest champions of every kingdom. The finest warriors, the most gifted mages, and the last defenders of civilization gathered for one final assault against Ar’ned’s fortress.

The battle was unlike anything the world had ever witnessed.

Thousands gave their lives as the Templar carved a path through the endless undead horde. In the end, their sacrifice was not in vain.

Ar’ned was slain.

The moment the necromancer fell, the dark magic sustaining his army vanished. Across the battlefield, countless undead collapsed where they stood, their unnatural existence finally brought to an end.

Those few who had willingly followed Ar’ned into darkness scattered into the shadows, disappearing from history.

For a time, the world believed the nightmare was finally over.

Thus began The Second Cataclysm.

Though nowhere near as devastating as the first, the Second Cataclysm forever reshaped the world. Fortunately, humanity had learned from the mistakes of the past. The surviving kingdoms recovered quickly, rebuilding their civilizations upon the ruins of those that had fallen.

The horrors of The Mage Wars also changed the world’s view of magic.

Many kingdoms imposed strict laws governing its study and use. In some lands, only licensed mages could practice their craft under the watchful eye of the crown. In others, magic was outlawed entirely, forbidden to all but a trusted few.

Much of the ancient knowledge had been lost forever. Powerful spells, forgotten rituals, and entire schools of magic vanished during the war, leaving modern mages with only fragments of the incredible power their predecessors once wielded.

Two centuries have now passed since The Second Cataclysm.

Kingdoms have risen once more.

Ancient ruins lie scattered across the wilderness, guarding the secrets of forgotten civilizations. Monsters roam untamed lands, relics of ages long past await discovery, and whispers of ancient evils still echo through the darkness.

The world has found peace…

But history has a way of repeating itself.

Welcome to Starfall.
